With people at the centre of everything BCG do this is an exceptional opportunity at the heart of the company that will give you exposure at senior levels across the business. The role is split between Staffing and CDC (Career Development Committee) organisation and focuses on the business performance of BCG and its consultants.
Staffing is a business critical function at the heart of what BCG do and you will play a pivotal role in this process. You will be working with the most senior partners in the company to optimise staffing levels and profitability. Working closely with consultants, you will understand their development needs, and endeavour to assign them to projects in the UK and overseas that best match their preferences and career ambitions. Within BCG consultants get the choice, within reason, of which assignments they work on therefore it will be your decision to liaise with partners and consultants to make the overall commercial business decision of which consultant works on the project in question. You will fully staff the project by tactically picking a team that will match the project requirements utilising the wider BCG network of consultants at all levels from Associate to Principle; this will be justified by taking into account core business need, technical skills and personal circumstances.
The CDC is a bi-annual assessment of each consultant in which their current progress is measured and their future targets are set. They are assigned a career advisor to support them. With regards to the CDC side of this position you will take full responsibility of the running of these bi-annual meetings and will enthusiastically provide in-depth input into the meetings. Given that you will have been dealing with each consultant on the ground you will contribute your assessment of their progress to this meeting and will assign a career advisor to each consultant. You will be required to organise the meetings, collect all data and run the agenda.
BCG is a fast-paced environment, positively challenging and offers good opportunities for career development and progression. You will be educated to degree level or equivalent and will have ideally worked in a similar staffing deployment role within a management consultancy. Alternatively you may have worked in a partner-led environment and had to deal with senior partners on a day to day basis.
You should be commercially aware and have excellent communication skills as you will be dealing with high profile projects and negotiating with BCG partners regarding their teams. You will also need to be diplomatic and tactful in order to handle situations where you might not be able to meet their requests.
